Chapel Today

I am personally not a fan of "Healthy Choices Week" at ACU. Even though I think it's a good idea to encourage students to make good choices during the upcoming Spring Break, the whole concept usually comes across a little too much like sex ed or "Just Say No" programs in high school. So I was pleasantly surprised to hear Sally Gary's speech in chapel this morning about making Jesus the master and commander of your life so that all of your other choices become easier when Christ is at your center.

I was especially touched by Dr. Gary's reference to Brody Bourland's story. She briefly told the story about him making a public commitment to Jesus at Winterfest the morning that he died. Even though Dr. Gary didn't know Brody or his family personally, she talked about how touched she was by his story. I was blessed to know that Brody's story is touching so many people's lives, even those like me and Dr. Gary who never knew him here on earth but are in some small way, better people because of the amazing impact he had on the world, in life and in death. Praise be to God for this amazing testimony!
